Build a Life
You may have gotten a Lincoln log set, Legos or even a doll house or a kitchen set as a child- whatever it was you got to use your imagination to build things. We live in a country where we actually have a choice on how to build a life. We can choose to build it our way or we can actually let the Lord build our lives. The psalmist pens this: Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. (Psalm 127a) Nobody really wants to build in vain because it is a waste of time. So as we surrender our lives to the Lord he will use his plans and purposes to build our lives which will require each of us to seek the Lord. As we seek the Lord we will discovery who He is and the gifts that he has gifted us with. In doing so we learn that God is not going to gift and call everyone to be a pastor. He may gift and call you to be in public service, some he has gifted to be in the medical or even the legal profession. As we look around we see so many different areas of ministry in God’s economy. The question is do you have the faith to seek the Lord wholeheartedly to let him build your life? He is the only one who can build your life in such a way that you will have fulfillment and contentment all at the same time. In Luke 6:46-49 we learn that by putting God’s word into practice in our lives we will be prepared. This is what helps us weather the storms of life, gives us hope, encourages and strengthens us and causes our faith to grow in the Lord.
1 Corinthians 3:9-10 we are God’s building and we must choose wisely how we are going to build our lives.
You see until Christ is the foundation of your life you will have no solid foundation on which to build and at some point your life will come crashing down. Having Christ Jesus as the foundation of your life only happens when you believe God’s gospel.
