Not Ashamed

Not Ashamed!

If I were to ask you if you were a Christian or a disciple of Jesus Christ, what would be your answer? Most people that I encounter normally will say that they have been baptized and that they are a Christian and that they don’t have to attend church on Sunday to go to heaven when they die.  Yes, denominations are a result of splitting hairs for the most part in theology.  The question is not, have you been baptized, but are you a disciple of Jesus Christ?  Please read Matthew 27:57-61.  Joseph of Arimathea had become a disciple of Jesus Christ.  He was a rich man, a member of the Sanhedrin, and he was looking for the coming kingdom of God. He didn’t agree with what the High Priest and Elder’s thought concerning him.  Becoming a disciple of Jesus means that you break away from religion and enter into a relationship with God through him.  Joseph heard Jesus’ message of repentance and repented of his sins and exercised faith in Jesus only for salvation. After Jesus’ death on the cross, Joseph asked Pilate for his body so that they could give him a proper burial because in Deuteronomy 21:22-23 The law of God teaches that to leave a body on the tree overnight, the land would be cursed. Joseph is not ashamed to be identified with Jesus. Jesus was crucified for being the King of the Jews. Joseph goes and gains an audience with Pilate and asks for the body of Jesus. Joseph’s life had been transformed by Jesus and he wanted to be obedient to God’s word.  In obedience he asked Pilate for Jesus’ body so that he could bury him in his own new tomb, fulling the passage of Scripture found in Isaiah 53:9, “And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence and there was no deceit in his mouth.”   As a disciple of Jesus, you show and tell Jesus you love him by your obedience to him and the word of God. If you are a person who prayed a prayer, got baptized, and got your certificate and there has been no life transformation, you may want to check to see if you are truly born again from above.  If you are not born again from above by the Lord you will bust hell wide open because you are still in your sins. Jesus calls those who come after him to become disciples.  A disciple of Jesus Christ, you will be transformed through the process of sanctification over the rest of your life. A disciple of Jesus Christ will seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness each day of their lives.  They will present themselves to be a living sacrifice that is holy and acceptable to God. They will intentionally renew their mind so that they can know the will of God, so that they can obey him. Are you a disciple of Jesus Christ?
