the mystery of kingdom growth

Jesus taught the parable of the sower to a fairly large number of people with each person receiving the message differently depending on the condition of their heart. Afterwards, a group of followers, including the twelve, came and asked him to explain the parable. He explained the parable and then continued to teach about the kingdom of God with the parable of the growing seed. Please read Mark 4:26-29. Jesus uses a farming illustration to illustrate the mystery of the kingdom of God and its growth. Just as the sower sowed the seed on the different types of soil, here the farmer sows the seed on the ground and he has done all he can do. He waits patiently for the seed to sprout, grow and produce a crop that can be harvested. (James 5:7) Here is the mystery of the seed, we can not explain the mystery of germination. What we do know that once a seed is planted the earth produces by itself. The only explanation that can be given is that God blessed the seed saying be fruitful and multiply. God’s power is behind the seed coming to life. The farmer cannot make the seed sprout and grow all he can do is sow the seed.  All a disciple of Jesus can do is share the gospel. Only God has the power to bring a person to life in Christ Jesus. We do not know the conditions of peoples heart’s only the Lord Jesus does. Our commission is to sow the gospel night and day and leave the results to the Lord. If we back up and look at the bigger picture, the seeds were being planted for the Church. Just as a seed grows from a seedling to being fully mature for harvest so will the world and the Church of Jesus Christ that is planted in it. There is coming a harvest and only God the Father knows when the day of the harvest will be, the Son is waiting for the Father to tell him when to harvest. The harvest is sure to take place when we least expect it. The LORD spoke through the prophet Joel concerning the harvest, “Put in your sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Go in, tread, for the wine press is full. The vats overflow, for their evil is great. Multitudes, multitudes, in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision!” (Joel 3:13-14)  A lot of people here the gospel message of Jesus Christ, repent of your sin and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved! They say no I want to live life my way, I want the god of my own making! Some put trust in their own works instead of the finished work of Jesus on the cross. God has put eternity in the hearts of man. But most people will say no to salvation in Jesus Christ. Then death comes to them or the Lord Jesus returns unannounced, there is no rapture of the Church and its just judgement! Those who have put off repenting and believing in the Lord Jesus, those who have said no to him, will say this, “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved.” (Jeremiah 8:20) It is a mystery, all we can do is share the gospel of Jesus Christ with you, I cannot save you from your sins and cause you to be born again, only Jesus can save you and cause you to be born again.
