We have all known people whom we would judge as unclean without looking in the mirror at ourselves. We all know people, maybe even ourselves that have a medical condition that keeps us from being around others. For example Covid-19 causes people to respond in fear if they know that the person they are around has had it. We respond as if they are an outcast of society. Please read Mark 5:24-34 as we read about a lady whose sickness made her unclean. Let’s call her Sally as she seeks help from Jesus. Sally’s situation is bad, so bad in fact that she is rendered unclean according to Leviticus 15:19-33. She’s called unclean Sally because of her condition and everyone who comes in contact with her is rendered unclean. She’s had this condition for twelve years. Can you imagine living in some sort of isolation for twelve years? She lived in mental and physical pain from the condition of her body and the treatment that the doctor’s prescribed to cure her illness. Nothing worked and she ended up broke as a result of her treatment. However, the good news about Jesus was spreading all over the place. This lady heard the report of what folks were saying he had done for others and she simply believed he could do the same for her. So Unclean Sally reached out to touch Jesus’ garments believing that if she just touched them that she would be healed of her sickness. When she reached out in faith, power from the Lord Jesus Christ healed her body completely. She knew it and Jesus knew it. As he looked around in the crowd she knew that he knew because he had asked who touched my garments? She came and told the whole truth to Jesus and he told her; “ Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” She left there a completely healed woman clean for the first time in twelve years. I don’t know your situation is that has you unclean before the Lord Jesus and others, but this I do know, our sin separates us from God and others around us. The more we try to fix the situation ourselves the worse off we get. The good news is that if you come to Jesus in faith he can do for you what he has done for unclean Sally. He can make you clean before God and others.
